At Creative Quo, we believe branding starts with imagination—and imagination thrives when we create just for the joy of it.

Recently, our team took on a playful, open-ended brand exercise: reimagine an abandoned building down the road from our office as a thriving community center. But this wasn’t just about visuals. We each designed a full concept, from name and purpose to how the space would function and be funded. The goal was to stretch our creative thinking, explore how identity can shape experience, and remind ourselves that even the most forgotten spaces hold potential.

This project gave us space to dream without limits. What emerged were five unique community-centered brands—each with its own voice, mission, and story.

Here’s a look at what we imagined when we let our creativity lead the way.

The Velvet Garden: Concept by Victoria
A lush indoor oasis made for cozy conversations, local creativity, and a love for plants.

The Velvet Garden is a warm, green-filled retreat brimming with texture, light, and a staggering 338 plants. With two full-time gardeners on staff, this center is quite literally rooted in growth. The atmosphere has soft lighting, shared spaces, and an emphasis on connection through creativity.

Funding Model:
Room rentals, local fundraisers, and sponsorships from businesses that get naming rights to specific rooms.

Birch & Brick: Concept by Erin
Where families, creatives, and book-lovers come to grow, learn, and just breathe.

Birch & Brick is full of charm and hidden corners—perfect for curling up with a book or finding focus on a creative project. Whether you’re a freelancer needing a fresh workspace or a parent looking for an enriching environment for your kids, this space welcomes everyone.

Funding Model:
Revenue from the on-site coffee shop and generous corporate sponsors who believe in community-first design.

The Chromatik: Concept by Karlie
Minimalist walls. Neon sparks. A retro-futuristic space where creativity comes alive.

The Chromatik is the place where big ideas meet bold visuals. Think: black and white design foundations with vibrant lighting accents and a dedicated 80s-inspired game room. It’s made for late-night brainstorms, community collaboration, and a little bit of play.

Funding Model:
Monthly fundraising events and consistent support from local sponsors.

Ilo: Concept by Leah
A name that means joy in Finnish, Ilo is all about growing joy through skills, creativity, and community.

This center invites every generation to discover something new—whether it’s learning how to garden, exploring a craft, or working in a community-run coffee shop. Outside, members can tend to their own garden plot and bring their harvest home, nurturing joy in every step.

Funding Model:
Quarterly sponsorships from local businesses (who gain community visibility) and an internal coffee shop that provides teen employment.

The Clearing: Concept by Emily
Inspired by Oodi Library in Helsinki, The Clearing is a redefined community space—fun, functional, and always creative.

Here, game nights are tournament-style and supersized. Imagine life-sized Monopoly, chess, or checkers, with real trophies and a winners’ wall. But it’s not all games—The Clearing is also where local companies invest in mental wellness, sponsoring monthly arts & crafts sessions for their teams.

Funding Model:
Corporate wellness partnerships that recognize the role of creativity in mental health and team connection.

Why We Did This

This was a way for our team to stretch our branding process from start to finish: defining a mission, designing an identity, and aligning every visual and experience to a greater purpose. It reminded us that branding isn’t about logos or colors—it’s about vision, storytelling, and making ideas real.
